J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is going back to the aging room for its latest Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) exclusive. Brick House Beginnings Ciento por Ciento starts shipping next week, with 800 boxes of 10 cigars headed to TAA member shops around the country.
Like the 2019 Ciento por Ciento, this one is a Nicaraguan puro. The name means “100 percent” in Spanish, a nod to every leaf coming from Nicaragua. The wrapper is a Habana-seed leaf grown in the Jalapa Valley, while the binder and fillers come from three of the country’s mountain growing regions. The cigars are rolled at J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory in Estelรญ and have been aged for five years. The company hasn’t announced a size.

Beginnings is an occasional series of well-aged Brick House cigars. It first showed up as a TAA exclusive in 2021, when J.C. Newman released Brick House cigars that had been sitting for about 10 years and were found during renovations at its El Reloj factory in Tampa. That release came in three sizes, including a 7 1/4 x 50 Churchill priced at $9.60, according to halfwheel.
Brick House has become a regular at the TAA. The 2023 Ciento por Ciento was a 6 1/4 x 54 made in 800 boxes of 10 at $11 a cigar, as halfwheel reported, and last year’s The Brick House is on Fire was a 6 x 50 toro with a flame-shaped foot, made in 1,000 boxes at $12. J.C. Newman hasn’t said whether the new release uses the same blend as the 2023 version. Earlier this year the company also added The Commodore Maduro to the regular Brick House line.
“Brick House is one of my great-grandfather’s original cigar brands,” says fourth-generation owner Drew Newman. “First rolled in 1937, Brick House honors the home where my great-grandfather was born in 1875. As it was the only house in the village built from brick, the home was known as ‘the brick house.'”
J.C. Newman was founded in Tampa in 1895, and the company calls itself the oldest family-owned premium cigar maker in America. It took home Cigar Dojo’s 2019 Exceptional Award for Brand.
Brick House Beginnings Ciento por Ciento has a suggested retail price of $12 per cigar.
