The original Arlequín, introduced by Fratello in 2020, quickly established itself as a standout line, earning the No. 6 spot on Cigar Dojo’s 2020 year-end list. The name Arlequín is Spanish for Harlequin, a character from the 16th-century Italian comedy Commedia dell’arte. Drawing from the character’s iconic checkered costume, Fratello incorporated this distinctive pattern throughout the cigar’s design and presentation. This look now extends to the Arlequín Connecticut, debuting in 2024 as the line’s first extension. Along with the familiar harlequin design, the cigar maintains a similar tobacco blend as well, though replacing the original San Andrés wrapper with an Ecuadorian Connecticut variety. Notably, this includes the cigar’s signature ingredient of Peruvian tobacco within the filler. In our opinion, this leaf contributed to a unique banana candy sweetness, providing a juicy character that has kept us returning to the Arlequín year after year. With the Arlequín Connecticut, Fratello picks up where they left off with the original, showing off a mouthwatering experience that’s balanced yet flavor forward, serving up a creamy concoction of sweet florals, natural honey, white pepper, and a banana cream pudding component that nods to the juicy character that won us over with the original.
