After announcing the return of the long-awaited Dogma cigar one week before this year’s IPCPR trade show, Drew Estate began shipping the cigars to retailers on Friday, August 24th.
The cigars have yet to begin showing up on the major online retailers, but many sites began taking pre-orders for consumers last week. Retailers that participate in Drew Estate’s Drew Diplomat program (and ordered the cigars from DE at IPCPR) should begin receiving Dogma cigars today, with the cigars anticipated to begin showing up for sale throughout the week.
The first of such sales was held in Broomfield, CO on Friday, August 24th, where Drew Estate and Cigar Dojo hosted the annual pre-event party for the Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival. Undercrown Dojo Dogma cigars were available to consumers for purchase (two bundles per person), with any remaining product being sold the following day at Drew Estate’s festival booth.
The Undercrown Dojo Dogma features a tweaked version of the Undercrown Maduro blend. The cigars are amped up, using extra ligero to offer a more intense version of the original Undercrown cigar—similar to Drew Estate’s Undercrown Maduro Corona ¡Viva! cigar. Not only this, but the Dogma is also box-pressed (among the first DE cigars to ever be offered in this shape), being rolled in a 6″ x 56 size and sold in soft bundles of 10 cigars for an MSRP of $107.97.
The Undercrown Dogma was originally released in 2014, being sold exclusively through online retailer Smoke Inn Cigars, with a total of 650 bundles of cigars sold in two phases. The cigars were quick to gain the attention of enthusiasts and collectors alike, rising to prices nearly five times their original MSRP. This contributed to the two company’s desire to recreate the fan-favorite original. Today’s Undercrown Dojo Dogma uses the same size and blend as the original cigars, being offered on an ongoing (but still limited) nature. The new cigars feature slightly tweaked packaging (altered Cigar Dojo logo on bundle and sub-band) to distinguish the original release from the newly rolled cigars.
