One day after the Feng Shui was released, the collaborative project officially sold out at roughly noon (MDT) on Friday, June 24, 2018. At launch, 300 bundles of 10 cigars were offered online (sold exclusively through online retailer Payless Cigars & Pipes), while another 60 bundles were sold at the cigar’s launch party, held in Longmont, CO.
Despite an initial hiccup at launch—where a massive influx of enthusiasts rushing to the Payless site caused the retailer’s servers to crash—the Payless staff worked tirelessly throughout the day to iron out the kinks, with orders eventually making their way through smoothly on Thursday afternoon. Of course, this is familiar territory for long-time Dojo members, where, no matter how “beefed-up” a retailer’s IT staff claims their setup to be, the Dojo finds a way to bring it down.
Of the 60 extra bundles brought to the launch party, 22 bundles were left over, making their way to the weekend’s headlining event, Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival.
Feng Shui was initially announced on August 16th, one week before the cigar’s sale. The project was a collaboration between Cigar Dojo and Espinosa Premium Cigars. Feng Shui uses primarily Nicaraguan tobaccos from the Estelí and Jalapa regions, bolstered by Indonesian tobacco in the (double) binder, as well as a special Habano Rosado wrapper leaf.
