Founded by Esteban Disla and Daniel Lance, Tabacalera Familia Disla S.A. has quickly established itself as one of the most compelling small-scale operations to emerge in recent years, earning our Up-and-Coming Factory of the Year honors. Disla brings decades of blending and factory leadership experience to the table, including formative years at Tabacalera Cuevas & Hermanos, the launch of Nica Habano in Estelí, time at STG Estelí (formerly Latin Cigars S.A.), and a pivotal role at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A. (of RoMa Craft fame), while Lance contributes a steady retail-minded approach that keeps the operation focused and disciplined. Since opening its doors, the factory has balanced its own ambitions with third-party collaborations, debuting its Domain Cigars brand in 2024 and welcoming projects like Cayman Cigar Company’s The Doubloon in 2025, while also expanding its creative reach through “The Residency” program, which focuses on crafting white labels and other third-party blends with the help of the factory’s highly regarded artisans. The cigars themselves tell the story best, showing consistently firm bunching, excellent draw, and long, trouble-free burn characteristics, primarily operating in the medium-plus-to-full profile range with dense smoke texture and real depth. Small but focused, Familia Disla feels less like a startup finding its footing and more like a workshop already confident in its identity, making it a factory that serious enthusiasts would do well to watch closely.
