Joya de Nicaragua has announced that the brand will be expanding the acclaimed Número Uno cigar this summer, releasing a small allotment of a 6⅞” x 48 Churchill format dubbed Le Premier.
Número Uno has existed for some time now, being smoked only by those within the company and given out by Nicaraguan ambassadors to other world leaders on official missions around the globe. This changed in 2018, as the company began offering the blend to consumers at special Joya events. Finally, the cigars were nationally released in 2019, becoming part of a three-part series known as Obras Maestras (aka Masterpieces), which also includes the Cuatro Cinco Cinco Décadas lines.

As with 2019, a small number of Número Uno have been crafted for the year, as only a single rolling pair within the JDN factory are tasked with constructing the entire run. For 2020, only 1,600 boxes of Número Uno are coming to the United States (800 Le Premier and 800 L’Ambassadeur), which is up by 100 boxes compared to 2019.
Le Premier is priced slightly higher than its predecessor, coming in at $16.60 per cigar MSRP (L’Ambassadeur was priced at $15). The cigars are packaged in the same boxes of 25 cigars, which will be showcased by Juan Ignacio Martínez and the Drew Estate team throughout the country in virtual meetings with top US retailers this summer. The cigars begin shipping this July, being made available exclusively to brick and mortar retailers that participate in the Drew Diplomat Retailer Program.
