Since the Plasencia family first debuted their refocused effort to highlight their own tobaccos and cigar craftsmanship through the Plasencia Cigars brand in late 2016, there have been two cigars to bear the Alma name: Alma Fuerte and Alma del Campo. The original intention was to release a total of five cigars in the Alma Series. Today, Plasencia has revealed the third cigar in the Alma SeriesโAlma del Fuego.
With Alma being the Spanish word for soul, the company seeks to highlight the soul of the Plasencia business with the Alma Seriesโtop-grade, premium tobacco.
The Alma Series is led by Alma Fuerte (translating to โStrong Soulโ), which is indeed the strongest cigar in the series. The remaining blends are: Alma del Campo (โSoul of the Countrysideโ), Alma del Rio (โSoul of the Riverโ), Alma del Fuego (โSoul of the Fireโ) and Alma del Cielo (โSoul of the Heavensโ).
Alma del Fuego is rolled using all-Nicaraguan tobaccos. At the core of the blend lies primarily tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua’s Ometepe island. The blend is then wrapped in a sun-grown leaf from the family’s farms in the Jalapa Valley, which is said to highlight the cigar’s boldness and complexity.
Alma del Fuego is rolled in three sizes and arrives in boxes similar to former Alma cigarsโbeing 10-count boxes that will double as an ashtray. The cigars will make their debut on June 29th during this year’s IPCPR trade show, later shipping to retailers in mid-July.
