Montecristo is adding a new cigar to its Espada portfolio with the release of the Montecristo Espada Conquistador, a Nicaraguan puro made in collaboration with Rafael Nodal and the Plasencia family.
According to Altadis U.S.A., the cigar was blended to sit between the original Montecristo Espada and the fuller-bodied Espada Oscuro, giving the line a new medium-full option. The company says the blend uses tobaccos from Plasenciaโs private estate in Nicaragua and is intended to offer a profile built around creamy cedar, subtle sweetness, light coffee notes, and white pepper.
โThe Montecristo Espada Conquistador represents our continued commitment to evolving the Espada line,โ said Rafael Nodal, VP of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA. โBy working with the Plasencia family and utilizing exceptional Nicaraguan tobaccos, weโve created a cigar that delivers balance, complexity, and refinement while staying true to the heritage of Montecristo.โ
Packaging for the release comes in 10-count boxes with a red suede-like finish, gold accents, and updated Espada branding. Altadis says the Montecristo Espada Conquistador will be unveiled at the PCA trade show in New Orleans on April 17, 2026, with shipping scheduled for June.
โThe Conquistador was made to bring a new level of elegance and accessibility to the Espada portfolio,โ said Gabe Diaz, Brand Manager at Altadis U.S.A. โFrom the blend to the packaging, every detail was thoughtfully curated to create a cigar that feels both timeless and contemporaryโsomething that resonates with loyal Montecristo smokers while inviting new consumers into the brand.โ
