El Mago Cigars is introducing a new limited production project centered around collectible packaging, with the debut of its Tin Series now shipping to a small group of retailers nationwide.

According to the company, the concept began when founder Nick Fusco came across a vintage R.J. Reynolds tobacco tin and saw an opportunity to bring that style of collectible presentation back to cigars. The result is a planned series of seven tins, each featuring original artwork and a connected storyline, with additional releases expected over time.

Production is limited to 5,000 cigars per release, with distribution restricted to fewer than 30 retailers through the companyโ€™s S-Tier program.

The first two tins are now available, both offered in a 5 x 50 box-pressed robusto format.

Tin #1, Oyama Omen, uses a Mexican San Andrรฉs maduro wrapper over a Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The company describes the profile as delivering notes of cedar, orange peel, and dark chocolate at a mild-to-medium strength level.

Tin #2, Mr. Almond, also features a Mexican San Andrรฉs maduro wrapper but swaps in a U.S. Broadleaf binder. The blend is positioned slightly higher in strength, with notes of sweetness, almond, cocoa, and light spice.

Each tin contains five cigars and is designed to function as both packaging and a collectible item, with character-driven artwork tied to the seriesโ€™ broader theme.

El Mago says five additional tins are planned as part of the ongoing release.
