While it wasnโ€™t billed as an anniversary release, Warped launched the maduro counterpart to the original Corto cigar in 2025, arriving 10 years after the line made its debut. A lot has changed for the company over the past decade, most notably its expansion of manufacturing outside of the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Estelรญ, with the majority of recent releases coming out of the NACSA (Nicaragua) and Tabacalera la iSLA (Dominican Republic) facilities. In the case of the Corto Maduro, Warped went with NACSA, which is no stranger to crafting dark, fuller-bodied blends. While it wasnโ€™t rolled in the exact same shape (the original being 4ยฝ” ร— 50 vs. the Maduroโ€™s 4ยฝ” ร— 46), the cigar remains in the Rothschild ballpark, featuring a red-and-black variation on the familiar Corto band. Blend-wise, the cigar is wrapped in Mexican San Andrรฉs maduro, surrounding an all-Nicaraguan interior that includes a portion of medio tiempo, known for its added intensity. In our experience, this makes for the โ€œmaduro loverโ€™s maduro,โ€ delivering exceptional tooth and density in the smoke texture through its concentrated size. Perhaps the fullest-bodied cigar on this yearโ€™s list, the Corto Maduro hits all the notes youโ€™d expect from such a blend, kicking off with black pepper and earth before leading into French-pressed coffee, chocolate fudge, touches of mesquite smokiness, and stone fruit.
