Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust and its owner, Steve Saka, have long been known for building solid core lines and gradually evolving them with unique variations, often differentiating releases visually through color changes. Whether itโ€™s the red-banded Mi Querida Triqui Traca, the blue-banded Sobremesa Brรปlรฉe Blue, or the green-hued Sobremesa Brรปlรฉe Wagashi, itโ€™s a proven approach that has allowed the company to continually showcase new smoking experiences without entirely reinventing the wheel each year. Enter the Sobremesa Solita Red from 2025: the cigar can be traced back to the original Sobremesa Cervantes Fino vitola from the core Sobremesa line, sharing the same 6ยผโ€ x 46 format. That size was discontinued in 2023 as part of a consolidation of the line ahead of its rebranding as Sobremesa Solita in 2024. With the portfolio back in order, Saka introduced the Sobremesa Solita Red in 2025, featuring a familiar core blend with added intensity. This includes a dark rosado grade-one Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Mexican San Andrรฉs negro binder, and fillers from Nicaragua (four tobaccos) and Pennsylvania. Bearing the classic Sobremesa band set against a fresh red backdrop, the Solita Red performs as advertised, offering a dense and concentrated smoke output from first light. The cigar is hearty and flavor-forward yet maintains balance, hitting notes of earth and freshly cracked pepper upfront before layering in coffee and brown sugar, classic leather, toasted walnuts, and dashes of cinnamon through the retrohale.
