Patina y Viso have introduced their first collaborative cigar, Verdigris, marking the start of a project named Patina y Viso Horny. The partnership between Mo Maali and Tyler Jeffery began with a chance meeting at Casa de Puros in Chicago. A brief conversation left an impression on Jeffery, who later reconnected with Maali after hearing him on a podcast. This led to Patina cigars being stocked in the humidor Jeffery managed.
Their relationship grew through shared interests and mutual respect. During an event, Maali invited Jeffery to visit Nicaragua, saying, โBook the flight.โ Jeffery accepted, and in Estelรญ, they studied blending and fermentation under industry experts Gustavo Cura and Angel Oliva III. After multiple trips, they decided to create a cigar together.
Verdigris, a 5 x 52 Robusto, features an Ecuador Habano Rosado wrapper, Ecuador Sumatra binder, and Nicaraguan filler. Produced at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A., the blend reflects their time and learning in Nicaragua. The cigarโs name, inspired by the patina on aged copper, symbolizes their evolving friendship and craft. Limited to 3,000 cigars in 300 bundles of 10, Verdigris is priced at $13 per cigar or $130 per bundle. Tyler stated the cigar will begin shipping end of July.
