For the fourth time in five years, Crowned Heads will release a limited number of the fan-favorite Belicosos Finos version of the Le CarĂªme line, dubbed Le CarĂªme Belicosos Finos LE 2022.
The Le CarĂªme was first introduced in 2016, taking its name from Marie-Antoine CarĂªme, a celebrity chef known (among many other accolades) for popularizing the soufflĂ©. This was because, while sampling the cigars, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo mentioned the blend “[tasting] like a chocolate soufflĂ©.”
In 2018, Crowned Heads introduced the Le CarĂªme Belicosos Finos LE 2018, which was a 5½” x 52 version that was rolled in a round shape (differing from the trunk-press of the standard Le CarĂªme). Crowned Heads has become known to showcase their favorite formats of particular blends within the portfolio and release them with limited-edition sub-bands for the given year. For Le CarĂªme, this has included the LE 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
“Since we launched the Le CarĂªme brand six years ago, it has consistently remained one of the top performers in our portfolio,” commented Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber. “That said, there really is something special in how the blend translates in the belicoso fino vitola and I think that is evident in the popularity and demand for this limited edition release. We managed to survive the recent Broadleaf (Connecticut) crunch, and this year we’ve been able to increase production of the Belicosos Finos Limited Edition to account for the increased demand.”
As usual, the cigars are rolled at Carrillo’s Tabacalera La Alianza factory in the DR, featuring a Grade-A Dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Sumatra binder, and all-Nicaraguan filler. Production for 2022 is limited to 3,500 boxes of 12 cigars, with a slightly higher price point (compared to the 2021 release) of $11.95 per cigar.
