Due to concerns over COVID-19 (coronavirus), the order has come down from Oettinger Davidoff AG in Basel, Switzerland to cancel all upcoming Camp Camacho trips to Honduras through their subsidiary Camacho Cigars.

While Central America had remained calm in comparison to more highly populated regions of the world, coronavirus landed in Latin America on February 26, as Brazil confirmed a case in São Paulo. As of this writing, Honduras has two confirmed cases and their government has since confirmed the shift to the second phase of national Containment and Response Plan to mitigate the effects of the outbreak.

In precaution, Oettinger Davidoff AG cancelled all non-essential travel, which includes Camp Camacho trips. Notably, Cigar Dojo’s own Camp Camacho trip was scheduled to kick off only a week from yesterday, scheduled March 18–21. Camacho is offering credits for the trip to all attendees, planning to reschedule for dates in the Sep–Nov. timeframe. Flights have been cancelled as well, though the return/credit process is at the discretion of each individual and airline.

Camp Camacho is often credited as being among the first such cigar-based excursions, first operating in the early 2000s when the company was owned by the Eiroa family. Camp Camacho was put on hold after the company was acquired by Oettinger Davidoff in 2008. Camacho announced the return of Camp Camacho in 2017, with test runs consisting of small groups such as the Cigar Dojo staff in 2018 and the first consumer groups in 2019.
