Cigar Dojo has teamed with Camacho Cigars to introduce our most ambitious collaboration to date: Imperial Stout Barrel-Aged. For this, the Dojo’s seventh limited edition cigar project, we have aligned several moving parts in an effort to introduce the flavor-craving cigar fanatics to bold new territories.

The project began when Dylan Austin of Camacho Cigars suggested to Eric “Master Sensei” Guttormson of Cigar Dojo that the Dojo team search their surrounding area for beer barrels that could be used on a special collaborative project between the two companies. As Cigar Dojo is located in Denver, Colorado—among the largest craft beer meccas in the country—the choices were many. Ten FIDY Imperial Stout from Oskar Blues was the obvious selection, but the beer was not commonly offered in a barrel-aged variant at the time (2015). But as chance would have it, Oskar Blues had just finished their first “official” release of Ten FIDY Barrel Aged in “Stovepipe” cans when Cigar Dojo came to the brewery with the request of barrels. While Oskar Blues used thirty barrels from various origins, Cigar Dojo and Camacho only needed four; which were promptly shipped to Camacho’s home base in DanlÃ, Honduras.
From bourbon, to imperial stout, to tobacco fermentation, the four barrels began their third major undertaking. These barrels, formerly containing bourbon from Heaven Hill Distilleries in Bardstown, KY, housed Camacho’s famed Original Corojo tobaccos for a minimum of six months before finally being retired (if they’re lucky…). Absorbing nuances from the charred oak, bourbon, and imperial stout, the tobaccos took on completely unique characteristics in this stage. The leaves were then blended with maduro tobaccos of three other countries, offering an all-maduro blend with barrel-aged tobaccos at the cigar’s core.
The blend recipe is Camacho’s popular Triple Maduro, which has been tweaked to accommodate the barrel-aged tobaccos for this special project. The cigars were then rolled in a 6″ x 50 toro vitola, a format that has never before been seen on the Camacho Triple Maduro.
