Cuesta-Rey is getting a new look, and J.C. Newman Cigar Co. plans to show it off in Las Vegas this weekend.
The Tampa company says it will debut redesigned bands for its Cuesta-Rey brand at Big Smoke Las Vegas. According to J.C. Newman, the new bands are meant to honor the brand’s heritage while starting a new chapter for one of the oldest names in premium cigars.
Drew Newman will give the first look at the bands on Saturday, November 7, during the event’s Top Cigars of 2025 seminar. Attendees of that session will also get to taste the Cuesta-Rey Centro Fino Sungrown Pyramid No. 9.
The redesign arrives as Cuesta-Rey passes 140 years. Master cigar makers Angel LaMadrid Cuesta and Peregrino Rey started the brand in 1884, and it was once the official cigar of King Alfonso XIII of Spain.
The announcement doesn’t say when cigars wearing the new bands will reach retailers, or whether every Cuesta-Rey line will switch to the new design.
