Tradecraft Cigars is expanding its core lineup with Shinobi, a new Sumatra-wrapped cigar blended by company founder Rob Blumenthal.
Shinobi becomes the fourth cigar in Tradecraft’s regular-production portfolio, joining the company’s existing core offerings. The cigar is produced by Hostos Quesada at Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and is being offered in a single 5ยฝ” x 52 Gran Robusto format.
Despite being produced in the Dominican Republic, Tradecraft describes Shinobi as a Nicaraguan-forward blend. The cigar uses a Sumatra wrapper over a Mexican San Andrรฉs binder, with fillers from Jalapa and Condega joined by Connecticut Broadleaf and Dominican Olor. According to the company, all of the filler tobaccos use viso primings.
As with other Tradecraft releases, the cigar’s name draws inspiration from history, this time looking to the shinobi of ancient Japan. The company’s founders are collectors of Japanese swords from the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, as well as Japanese tattoos and artwork. Tradecraft points to the Shลninki, a historical text documenting shinobi tactics and techniques, as part of the inspiration behind the release.
Shinobi will also introduce an updated 12-count box design for Tradecraft.
The Tradecraft Shinobi Gran Robusto is priced at $13.80 per cigar. An initial pre-release is currently being offered through Luxury Cigar Club, with a wider release to Tradecraft retailers scheduled for December.
