LA Cigar Collective has teamed with Klaas Kelner and Kelner Family Cigars for Le Flambeaux, marking the retailer group’s third exclusive cigar release.

For the project, LA Cigar Collective asked Kelner to create a cigar with considerably more strength than smokers might normally associate with his blends, while retaining the balance and complexity of his previous work.

“Build us a cigar that’s full-bodied. Push beyond the strength profile people expect from a Kelner blend without sacrificing the complexity and balance that define your work.”

Kelner responded with a blend built around a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Ecuadorian Habano binder, and Dominican fillers, with the filler composition containing 60 percent ligero. The cigars are produced at Kelner Family Cigars in the Dominican Republic.

Le Flambeaux is rolled in a single 6½” x 55 Gran Toro format and packaged in boxes of 15. Total production has been set at 10,000 cigars.

The cigar’s name draws from the flambeaux carriers associated with Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Before electric street lighting, the torch-bearing carriers illuminated nighttime parade routes, with the tradition continuing as part of Mardi Gras celebrations.

According to LA Cigar Collective, the cigar’s flavor profile includes dark chocolate and caramelized brownie notes, leather, raisins, and sweetness.

“This project stands as a testament to creative trust—when a retailer challenges someone at the top of their game, and they answer with something extraordinary.”

Le Flambeaux will be available through LA Cigar Collective, Small Batch Cigar, and select brick-and-mortar retailers.
