Playboy has announced its return to the premium cigar space through a new partnership with Kingmakers, marking the first release in what is being positioned as an ongoing cigar collection. The project represents a modern reintroduction of the Playboy name within the premium cigar category, developed with an emphasis on contemporary design and lifestyle alignment rather than nostalgia alone.
The inaugural release is a 6 x 54 Toro produced in Estelรญ, Nicaragua, featuring a Habano Claro Criollo wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. According to product information provided by the companies, the blend was constructed using long-aged tobaccos and designed to deliver a balanced progression throughout the smoking experience, with flavor notes described as cedar, spice, earth, and cocoa.
From a visual standpoint, the cigar leans heavily into brand recognition. The band features a white base with angular cuts and a contrasting black inset showcasing the iconic Rabbit Head logo, while the packaging utilizes a black box with a sculpted PLAYBOY wordmark and interior artwork drawn from historic magazine covers.
For Kingmakers, the collaboration represents an extension of its strategy to align with established cultural brands. โPlayboy shaped an era where culture, style, and indulgence intertwined. Our goal was to honor that heritage while crafting something distinctly modern,โ said Claudio Torres, Co-Founder and COO of Kingmakers. โThe result is a cigar that resonates with legacy while speaking to todayโs discerning audience.โ
The cigarโs release coincides with the reintroduction of Playboy magazine, signaling a broader effort by Playboy to reassert its presence across lifestyle and luxury categories. In support of the launch, the Playboy Cigar Collection is expected to appear at select private lounges, supper clubs, and lifestyle events nationwide as part of a curated tour.
The Playboy Toro is slated to ship in limited 10-count boxes, with availability planned through participating retailers as well as online channels.
