Lure Cigars has announced the release of The Slim Jim, the latest entry in its ongoing Catch & Release series. The cigar is produced in limited quantities and is positioned as an experimental release designed to explore new sizes and blends within the company’s portfolio.
The Slim Jim is a Lonsdale-sized cigar measuring 6.5 x 42, featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over an Estelí binder. The filler blend includes Nicaraguan tobaccos from Jalapa along with Ometepe ligero. According to the company, the slimmer ring gauge was chosen to highlight Broadleaf characteristics through a higher wrapper-to-filler ratio.
The name “Slim Jim” carries personal significance for the brand’s owner, drawing from a family name shared among several relatives. The release follows the reception of Lure Cigars’ earlier Broadleaf offering, The Last Cast, and continues the brand’s fishing-inspired Catch & Release concept.
“Like in fishing, you can’t always keep what you catch, sometimes the fish is too small, or it’s out of season,” said Lure Cigars owner Lou Cross. “It’s fun to catch them and let them go. The ‘Catch & Release’ program is designed to give fellow enthusiasts a chance to smoke something incredible, at a great price. But also serves to test new sizes and blends. I appreciate the feedback from smokers as it helps in the development of future projects. Be sure to get your hooks on some before they’re gone…as I like to say, ‘Smoke the Few That Got Away.’”
Production of The Slim Jim is capped at 1,800 cigars. The release is available through a small group of retailers nationwide and is manufactured at La Tabacaria in Estelí, Nicaragua, with distribution handled by Valacari Cigars.
