J.C. Newman, a cigar company with a long history, is bringing back one of its early brands, Sarzedas, originally dubbed โ€œThe Aromatic Cigar.โ€ Records from the U.S. Patent Office indicate that Sarzedas cigars were first produced by the company in 1900. Now, 125 years later, J.C. Newman is set to reintroduce the brand at the Premium Cigar Association Trade Show in New Orleans this weekend. The updated Sarzedas cigars are being crafted at the companyโ€™s PENSA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

โ€œI have loved the Sarzedas name and the brandโ€™s history as โ€˜The Aromatic Cigarโ€™ for years,โ€ said Drew Newman, a fourth-generation owner of the company. โ€œI have been wanting to bring this historic brand back, but had to wait until we could create a blend that lives up to the brandโ€™s legacy.โ€

The new Sarzedas cigars come in four sizes: a 6โ€ x 50 toro, a 4.75โ€ x 52 robusto, a 7โ€ x 48 Churchill, and a 5.5โ€ x 43 corona. Rich Dolak, J.C. Newmanโ€™s Vice President of Operations with 29 years of blending experience alongside the Newman family, developed the cigarโ€™s composition. It features an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper with binder and filler tobaccos sourced from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The company plans to establish a suggested retail price between $8 and $10 per cigar when shipping begins this summer.

โ€œSarzedas is a fun, flavorful cigar that everyone can enjoy,โ€ Newman added.

At the trade show, J.C. Newmanโ€™s booth will showcase the brandโ€™s past with items like a vintage Sarzedas cigar box, a 100-year-old Sarzedas ashtray, and newspaper advertisements from the early 1900s.
