Nelson Alfonso of Selected Tobacco will be unveiling of the Byron 175th Anniversary Humidor at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) trade show in New Orleans. This release celebrates 175 years of the Byron line, a brand rooted in Alfonso’s family heritage, with a limited run of 175 individually numbered humidors.
The humidor features two side drawers for accessories, a three-finger cigar case, and a matching ultramarine ashtray. Its top shelf, accessed via twin Byron knobs, holds 20 cigars above hidden humidification chambers, while a lower compartment reveals additional cigars. A front panel with gold accents conceals a hygrometer, temperature gauge, and lock, complemented by a commemorative foot band marking the anniversary.
Each humidor contains 60 cigars, aged for over five years: 15 Byron 1850 No. 3 (6 x 52), 15 Byron 19th Century Grand Poemas (6 x 56), 15 Byron 20th Century Habaneros (6 x 54), and 15 Byron 21st Century Elegantes (6 1/8 x 55). Alfonso emphasized the personal significance of the project, stating, “For me, Byron is not only a cigar. It is a story of my family, of my country, of the time. This humidor is to honor this story, one piece of my soul in each box. We age the cigars with patience, with love. This is not only to smoke, it is to feel.”
