Black Star Line Cigars has teamed up with Binny’s Beverage Depot for two releases celebrating Chicago’s history. The first, “1837,” marks the year Chicago was incorporated, following the success of their earlier Jean Baptiste blend honoring the city’s founder, Jean Baptiste DuSable. Both projects reflect the shared Chicago roots of the cigar maker and retailer.
The “1837” is a 6×50 vitola with a Corojo 2012 wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Mexican and Nicaraguan fillers, offering a medium-plus body. Aganorsa Leaf crafted this blend, with 200 bundles of 10 available. The re-released Jean Baptiste, now in 10-count boxes instead of bundles, is a 6×52 vitola with a medium-full strength, featuring a Corojo 2012 wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers. Limited to 200 boxes, it revisits a popular collaboration.
“These projects honor Chicago’s legacy,” said Black Star Line owner Aric Bey. Both cigars will hit all 46 Binny’s stores within two weeks.
