Over the years, there have been several occasions where A.J. Fernández (the man) began rolling cigars for small brands with little-to-no name recognition. Said brand subsequently earns a following, and A.J. Fernández (the company) brings the brand in-house. Whether or not this will be the case with Nasser Cigars remains to be seen, though the situation feels eerily familiar to the aforementioned scenarios. Oddly enough, Nasser is primarily a lounge that’s located in Pétion-Ville, Haiti. The Goat cigar began as an exclusive for Jeff Nasser and his Haiti-based lounge, eventually opening up to the US market with a larger distribution from AJF Cigar Co. Rolled in a single toro format, The Goat begins with a dark Mexican San Andrés wrapper, being secured over a Corojo binder and all-Nicaraguan fillers. The blend is rich and flavor forward, being cool in temperature and sweet and syrupy on the palate. It’s an approachable, dessert-like profile that’s easy to love, showing off notes of sweet earth, sticky molasses cookies, oak, and a punchy mocha character.
