J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has announced the release of its 2025 José Gaspar cigar, a tribute to Tampa’s dual traditions of cigars and the annual Gasparilla pirate festival. The limited-edition cigar, handcrafted by the company’s artisans, brings together elements of Tampa’s history and culture.

The José Gaspar cigar is named after the legendary pirate who operated in the Gulf of Mexico in the late 1700s. Drew Newman, a fourth-generation owner of J.C. Newman Cigar Co., explained that the cigar reflects the bold character associated with the pirate’s legacy and Tampa’s celebration of Gasparilla.

For 2025, 10,000 José Gaspar cigars have been produced, available at 17 retailers across the Tampa Bay area. The cigar is a 6 x 54 toro, featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and is sold in packs of five with an MSRP of $40.
