For the first time in three years, fans of the Protocol Cigars brand will be introduced to a new release within the Lawmen Series, as Cubariqueño Cigar Co. has announced Protocol Phoebe Couzins.
Like former cigars in the collection, Phoebe Couzins pays homage to a prominent figure in the history of law enforcement:
Phoebe Couzins was born in St. Luis, Missouri. She became the first woman in United States history to graduate from a law school, later she would become one of the first female lawyers in the United States. In 1887 Phoebe Couzins became the first female U.S. Marshal in the country. Couzins was very much a women’s right activist as well, she was a member of the St. Louis Woman Suffrage Association where she drew attention as a public speaker. Phoebe Couzins was a pioneer, opening the doors for women in law and in law enforcement. It is an honor to present this cigar to pay homage to her legacy, especially during Women’s History Month.
The Lawmen Series began with Protocol Sir Robert Peel in 2019, later expanding to include Protocol Eliot Ness in 2020 and Protocol Bass Reeves in 2021. Each release has featured two different blends, always including a natural and maduro offering. This holds true with Phoebe Couzins, with the Natural using an Ecuadorian Sumatra rosado wrapper and the Maduro featuring a Nicaraguan Habano oscuro cover leaf. The interior blends are different as well, each featuring different proportions/varietals/regions of Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Cubariqueño Cigar Company Founder, Juan Cancel closed “Like the Bass Reeves, we are proud to feature Phoebe Couzins as the newest addition to the Lawmen Series. It truly shows the diversity of law enforcement as a whole. Men and women from all races and ethnicities come together to serve the public at large.”
The cigars were blended by the Protocol team with the help of Erik Espinosa and Héctor J. Alfonso Sr., master blender for Espinosa Premium Cigars. The cigars are now ready to ship to retailers, featuring 10-count boxes of a 6″ x 52 box-pressed toro format (the same size for each blend) that is set to retail for $12.55 per cigar MSRP.
