Four years after the original launch, Alec & Bradley Cigars have once again partnered with Cigar Dojo for the quadrennial return of Uru Doshi.

First debuting on Feb. 29, 2020, Uru Doshi was named for the Japanese translation of leap year. The cigars marked the first collaboration from Alec and Bradley Rubin (of Alec Bradley fame), signaling the first release in an elusive series, materializing only once every four years.

Now, 1,461 days and 2.34 billion miles around the sun later, the Uru Doshi cigar is set to return to humidors for the first time. Like the original, the cigars make use of unique leaves from lots not seen throughout Alec Bradley’s portfolio. This includes Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves, making up the cigar’s filler and double-binder recipe. However, as has been hinted in the four years since the original launch, the Uru Doshi (2024) employs subtle tweaks to the tobacco primings, making for a slightly amped-up take on the 2020 edition. Finally, the Jamastran wrapper of the original cigar has been swapped with a Honduran Criollo ’98 cover leaf, selected from Honduras’ Trojes region.

“I can’t believe it’s been four years since the first Uru Doshi release, yet here we are,” commented Eric Guttormson, owner of Cigar Dojo. “It’s time for another leap year and another iteration of the Uru Doshi. This time around, we tweaked the blend to allow for an amped-up smoking experience. Let me be the first to say, it was worth the wait!”

Those that were patient enough to set aside a few singles/bundles from the 2020 release will be rewarded, as the comparison over the course of four long years makes one of the most unique aging experiments among limited series on the market.

Bradley Rubin, Alec Bradley brand ambassador said, “Working with Cigar Dojo on Uru Doshi is one of my favorite projects. Not just because the 2020 blend was Dojo’s fastest-selling collaboration that year. It’s also because Uru Doshi is an opportunity to reflect on how our palates have evolved. As Eric said, we updated the blend to make it the right smoke for 2024. We can’t wait for people to experience it.”
