In a crowded market of anniversary-style cigars, few have established themselves as mainstays in humidors like that of Perdomo Cigars. This began with the now-legendary Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne, debuting in the early 2000s in order to commemorate the company’s inception in 1992. The line was followed by the 20th Anniversary a decade later, this time adding what is often considered the company’s fullest-strength offering. Not surprisingly, cigar hobbyists had been eagerly anticipating the third such release from the company over the past few years, eventually arriving one year past the technical milestone when shipping in the fall of 2023.

Known for Nicaraguan craftsmanship, vertical integration, and (among many other feats) pioneering the path of barrel-aged tobaccos, it shouldn’t have been a surprise that the Perdomo 30th Anniversary was revealed as a trio of Nicaraguan-focused blends with 15-year-aged tobaccos throughout. And yet, we’re looking at 15-YEAR-AGED tobaccos—wrapper to binder to filler… it’s safe to say that Perdomo outdid themselves. Not only this, but each of the three blends (Connecticut, Maduro, and Sun Grown) also boast an added step of barrel fermentation, spending time in spent bourbon barrels at Perdomo’s factory in Nicaragua. To cap it all off, the cigars maintain the company’s unique ability to deliver quality experiences at an accessible price, with the full suite of five sizes ranging from $12 to $14 MSRP.

With the Perdomo 30th Anniversary Sun Grown, the blend includes all-Nicaraguan tobaccos from Perdomo’s fields of Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa, being harvested from a banner 2008 crop. In our experiences, this recipe comes across like somewhat of a mix between the former 20th Anniversary and Double Aged 12-Year Vintage blends, being elevated with a balanced mouthfeel and a velvet-like texture that serves as the hook to keep you coming back for more. Yes, the earthy, sun-dried, red pepper-like influence expected from Perdomo’s Sun Grown blends is apparent, but the profile is rounded out with softer, buttery complexities of gingersnap cookie, nutmeg, toasted rye bread, and candied nuts.
