No. 3 Cigar of the Year 2022 – Knuckle Sandwich Habano

With the words “Espinosa” and “Habano” being practically synonymous, it was no shocker that one of the company’s headlining releases for 2022 came wrapped in a zesty Ecuadorian-grown Habano leaf. What was a bit of stunner, however, was the accompanying personality attached to the project: none other than Guy Fieri (yes, that Guy…). As it happens, Guy’s been hovering around the industry for a few years now, and when he finally wanted a piece of the action, he sprung the idea on his close friend Erik Espinosa. Erik agreed on one condition: that Guy went all in. He’d seen (and we all have, honestly) too many celebrity cigar collaborations drop onto the cigar scene with a splash… only to be quietly pulled from the shelves once said celebrity realized you have to keep showing up in order to keep engagement (and sales) up. Thankfully, in the case of Guy and Erik, both parties have delivered on cue, as the cigars (which have already grown from two to four varieties) proved to be some of the most exciting from Espinosa in recent memory. Meanwhile, Guy has not only smoked/promoted the Knuckle Sandwich on air (including a guest appearance by Erik himself), he’s also sharing ’em with his pals (recently Tweeting himself and Post Malone enjoying the cigar backstage after one of his shows) and even showing up to cigar events such as The Great Smoke, this year’s PCA trade show, La Zona Palooza, and The Big Smoke. Finally, the cigars are worth the hype, with natural and maduro variants logically splitting cigar enthusiasts right down the middle in terms of preference. At Cigar Dojo, we simply cannot say no to an Espinosa Habano, and the Knuckle Sandwich proved no different. The cigar buzzes through the nostrils like it’s on a mission. It’s equal parts clean, spicy, and sweet, hitting standout flavors of cabinet spice, buttermilk, Redhots candy, and sweet coffee cake.
