J.C. Newman has announced they will be re-launching their El Baton brand with a tweaked blend and updated branding. The El Baton line was initially created in 1914 and then re-introduced in 2008 which was the Newman’s first cigar rolled in Nicaragua. The new version is shipping to retailers this week.

El Baton is wrapped with an Ecuadorian wrapper and rolled with a blend of, Nicaraguan tobaccos. It is being released in four sizes in boxes of 25:

  • El Baton Belicoso, 5” x 56 with a MSRP of $7.90
  • El Baton Double Toro, 6” x 60 with a MSRP of $8.70
  • El Baton Double Torpedo, 6.25” x 56 with a MSRP of $8.20
  • El Baton Robusto, 5” x 54 with a MSRP of $7.70

“El Baton has been J.C. Newman’s under-the-radar cigar,” said Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner. “As I was unsatisfied, I decided to tweak the El Baton blend and return to more of a traditional style of packaging that better reflects the century-old history of this my great-grandfather’s old cigar brand.”
