Crowned Heads has announced a limited-edition size within the Four Kicks Capa Especial brand for 2021, dubbed Four Kicks Capa Especial Águilas LE 2021.
The cigar follows a familiar format for Crowned Heads, often showcasing limited sizes for their most popular brands on an annual basis, including Le Carême Belicosos Finos, Luminosa Gigantes, Mil Días Escogidos, and more.
With Four Kicks Capa Especial Águilas LE 21, Crowned Heads showcases a unique take on their 2020 release of the Four Kicks Capa Especial (which ranked as Cigar Dojo’s No. 8 Cigar of the Year for 2020). Águilas translates to mean Eagle, and the size is crafted after a 1960s Romeo y Julieta format of the same name.
The Four Kicks Capa Especial Águilas story began in Summer 2011 in the office of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo at Tabacalera La Alianza, S.A., in Santiago, Dominican Republic. While working on what would eventually become Crowned Head’s inaugural release, Four Kicks, Ernesto gifted Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber, with a unique and special cigar. The cigar had a truly vintage aesthetic to it in terms of visual appeal and shape. Ernesto simply referred to the cigar as “águilas.” That cigar was placed in a ziplock bag, labelled “águilas,” and was stored away in Huber’s modest 50-count humidor at his home where it remains to this day.
Four Kicks Capa Especial Águilas LE 21 uses the same blend as the 2020 release, including an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and fillers of Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Águilas is a shapely 5½” x 50 figurado, tapered at both the head and foot. The cigars will be packaged in boxes of 12 cigars, retailing for $10.95 MSRP/cigar. Production is limited to 3,000 boxes for 2021, shipping to retailers this June.
