Cubariqueño Cigar Co. today announced the addition of a 5⅝” x 46 corona gorda format to their Sir Robert Peel brand.
Sir Robert Peel first launched in 2019, kicking off the upper-scale Lawmen Series within the Protocol portfolio (which has since been joined by the Protocol Eliot Ness). The cigars debuted in a singular box-pressed toro format, with both natural and maduro-wrapped variants encasing the same interior blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Protocol has taken the strategy, over the years, of debuting new brands in a singular size, later adding the connoisseur-geared corona gorda format. With Sir Robert Peel, the corona gorda differs from the original in more than just size, as the corona gorda lacks the box-press of the original release.
The new size will debut at a special release party on April 17th, held at The Royal Leaf Cigar Shop in Millville, NJ. This retailer will have exclusive rights to sell the corona gorda through May 1st, where the cigars will become available nationally. The cigars will be available in-store and through The Royal Leaf’s online store. Pricing has been set at $115.00 MSRP per box of 10 cigars ($11.50/cigar).
