The Aniversario line first debuted under the Casa Fernández banner in 2013, offering a taste of the company’s most elite craftsmanship. This is because the cigars were rolled in Miami at Casa Fernández’s boutique-style factory, where highly accomplished torcedores employ traditional rolling techniques, placing their talents on center stage. The company has since undergone a number of changes—including rebranding themselves as Aganorsa Leaf in 2018—yet, apart from a two-year gap, the annual showcase of the Aniversario line has remained.
Other changes and innovations from Aganorsa have come in the form of the tobacco they produce, such as the 2019 introduction of a high-priming Corojo ’99 leaf that is shade-grown and cured/fermented for an extended period of time, offering a maduro spin on the signature profile of the AGANORSA fields of Nicaragua. In 2020, this leaf made its way to the Aniversario series, where a single torcedor crafted the entire allotment of 2,500 cigars. Apart from the new maduro wrapper, the blend consists solely of Nicaraguan AGANORSA tobacco, being crafted with a special 109-style head. Top-tier craftsmanship and Grade-A tobacco combine for stunning results, offering a medium-full performance of mineral-rich earth, black pepper, charred oak, and chocolate graham cracker.
