It’s a sad day in the cigar industry as it was announced that Nat Sherman will be closing down after 90 years in business. While the company had been trying to find a new buyer to exit the parent company Altria ultimately it was COVID19 crisis that drove the final nail in the coffin.
Jessica Pierucki, General Manager and Managing Director for Nat Sherman stated “We worked hard to successfully transition Nat Sherman International to a new home, the COVID-19 pandemic created new challenges that were unfortunately too big to overcome. This decision in no way reflects on the incredible people who have worked to build Nat Sherman International’s business or the quality of the products,”
Not only will the famed Nat Sherman Townhouse be shutdown but it will also mark the end of their premium cigar brands such as Timeless, Metropolitan and Cigar Dojo’s Cigar of the Year in 2014 the Epoca.
Nat Sherman’s cigarette division will remain as it was previously separated from the cigar division after the Altria acquisition.
Popular cigar personality Michael Herklots who acts as Nat Sherman’s Vice President painted the situation in the most positive way possible as he stated “Leading what has become Nat Sherman International’s final chapter these last nine years has been the honor of a lifetime,” Michael continued “Hopefully, our premium cigars will live on in the humidors of our greatest fans and appreciated with fond memories for many years to come.”
Nat Sherman will close it’s doors by the end of September 2020.
