Drew Estate yesterday announced the return of the limited Undercrown ShadyXX brand for 2020, launching in 10-count petaca boxes that are similar to the 2019 launch, which signified the fifth anniversary of the cigar.
The Undercrown Shady was first introduced in 2014—shortly after the initial Undercrown DOGMA—partnering with Shady Records’ president, Paul Rosenberg, in commemoration of the label’s 15th anniversary. The Shady’s first launch was dubbed ShadyXV, but the 2019 release was changed to ShadyXX, which remains for the 2020 release.
Like the Undercrown Corona ¡Viva! and Undercrown Dogma, the ShadyXX features a stronger version of the traditional Undercrown Maduro blend, using higher tobacco primings to boost the intensity. This includes a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Connecticut Stalk-Cut Habano binder, and fillers of Nicaragua and Brazil.
The ShadyXX is a 5″ x 50 box-pressed belicoso, with the 2020 packaging listing the cigar’s release year to differentiate it from past launches. The cigars will be sold exclusively through Drew Diplomat-authorized retailers this September at a price of $104.00 MSRP ($10.40 per cigar).
