As Drew Estate has done in recent years, the company is set to launch its fan-favorite Flying Pig size for the Kentucky Fire Cured, Undercrown, and Liga Privada brands, shipping to retailers throughout April and May.
As with the 2019 release, this year’s features a total of six different blends across the three brands, with all cigars being rolled in what Drew Estate describes “one of the most complicated vitolas to manufacture.” The cigars are short/stout perfectos sized at 4⅛” × 60 and being finished with an oversized pigtail cap—a design that was first inspired by a photograph of an 1895 cigar salesman’s size selection case.
The fan-favorite Flying Pig size originally debuted in November 2009 with a limited run of 2,000 boxes in the original Liga Privada No. 9 blend. The cigars have since becoming the most elusive vitola from Drew Estate. In 2010, Drew Estate followed with a limited run of Flying Pig cigars in the Liga Privada T52 blend, eventually branching out to include an Undercrown Maduro version in 2012 (originally released exclusively for the Netherlands market), later followed by the Undercrown Shade, Kentucky Fire Cured, and Undercrown Sun Grown.
For 2020, the Flying Pig cigars retain the same price points seen in 2019, with the Ligas set at $181.17/box, the Undercrown blends at $153.17, and the Fire Cured at $115.17 (all being 12-count boxes). The Undercrown Shade, Undercrown Sun Grown, and both Liga Privada formats are exclusive to Drew Diplomat Retailers, while the remaining cigars are offered to all retailers that carry Drew Estate. Undercrown and Kentucky Fire Cured cigars will begin shipping April 15th, while the Ligas will roll out on May 1st.
