Following the 2019 IPCPR trade show, which kicked off on June 29th, Casa Cuevas has begun shipping their first limited-edition offering since being burglarized earlier this year.
Casa Cuevas Cigars’ latest offering is dubbed La Mandarria, a special blend that was crafted in response to the company’s devastating burglary of their Miami-based warehouse, in where 25,000 cigars (equating to $150,000 retail) where stolen. La Mandarria translates to mean Sledgehammer—a nod to the instrument used to gain access through the side wall of the Casa Cuevas facility. As such, Casa Cuevas has blended the La Mandarria to be the strongest smoking experience to date from the Casa Cuevas brand.
La Mandarria is a testament to the values that my father taught me as a child. He was a fighter who optimized the American dream. As a small cigar company, the robbery was an obstacle, but nothing he hasn’t been able to deal with in his storied past. The Mandarria represents the principal tool used against us, but also represents the strength and will of my father.Luis Cuevas Jr., president of Casa Cuevas Cigars
La Mandarria features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over an undisclosed filler recipe, being rolled in a singular toro format that showcases both a pigtail cap and exposed-binder foot. Only 10,000 cigars have been rolled in total, which are now shipping across the country (retailing for $12).
