Ventura Cigar Co. is set to debut the third chapter in its popular Archetype series, which is based on the work of psychologist Dr. Carl Jung and mythographer Joseph Campbell, who defined ‘archetypes’ as the constantly repeating characters who occur in the dreams of all people and the myths of all cultures.

The series first debuted at the 2016 IPCPR trade show, with the company introducing a whopping five cigar blends, contained within two categories: Chapter 1 (then known as Series A) and Chapter 2 (then known as Series B). Apart from the psychological inspiration for the series, Archetype is noted for showcasing a diverse range of profiles through the use of various manufacturing partners; this originally included Davidoff’s Occidental Kelner Cigars (Dominican Republic), Camacho Cigars’ Diadema Cigars de Honduras (Honduras), and Drew Estate’s La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate (Nicaragua).

With today’s announcement of a third installment, Ventura has expanded to include a fourth factory—partnering with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo and his famed Tabacalera La Alianza factory in the Dominican Republic.

Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is one-of-a-kind. He and I go way back. We are champions of each other’s work in the cigar industry, and creative collaborators at points along the way. It made sense for us to team up and begin this new chapter of Archetype, forging a new path in its story, and celebrating a new phase in our careers. Ernesto’s a master crafter, as a creator of blends that treat the cigar smoker to an evolving flavor experience. Chapter 3 is going to be an exciting one for all of us- I just know it.Michael Giannini, general manager for Ventura Cigars

Archetype Chapter 3 will consist of two unique cigar blends, both of which will be offered in the same three formats: Robusto (5″ x 50), Toro (6″ x 52), and Gordo (6″ x 60). The first cigar is dubbed ‘Sacred Scales,’ offering a full-bodied profile and making use of a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. The second cigar—’Dawn of Destiny’—is billed as medium to full in body, using “a smooth wrapper from Ecuador.”
