Davidoff Cigars has announced the release of a new blend, making use of Florida-grown tobaccos in the cigar’s filler. The release is titled Davidoff Florida Selection 2018 Limited Edition, highlighting tobaccos from Jeff Borysiewicz’s Florida Sun Grown Farm in Clermont, Florida.
Florida Selection 2018 Limited Edition follows in the nomenclature of Davidoff’s exploration-based Discovery Series (aka Black Label), where the company began highlighting unique tobacco-growing regions in 2013 with the introduction of the Davidoff Nicaragua. Since then, successive releases have focused on additional regions such as Rio, Brazil (Davidoff Escurio), Nicaragua (Davidoff Nicaragua Box Pressed), and the Dominican’s Yamasá region (Davidoff Yamasá). With Davidoff Florida Selection, the cigars are centered around Florida-grown tobaccos in the cigar’s filler.
The Florida tobacco was grown at a farm in Clermont where the leaves are known for their robust flavour and fragrance. These sun nurtured American leaves were introduced to intense tobaccos from Yamasá, spicy leaves from Nicaragua, and sweet leaves from the Dominican Republic. An earthy Habano Jalapa binder from Nicaragua was added, and wrapped in a beautiful oily and creamy Ecuadorian Habano 2000 leaf to complete the cigar.
Differing from the former releases in Davidoff’s Discovery Series, Florida Selection 2018 is the first limited edition blend to the bear Davidoff’s black band (as opposed to the more traditional white label cigars). The cigars are rolled in a 6″ x 52 belicoso shape, boasting a diverse blend that includes an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper, Nicaraguan (Jalapa) Habano binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Florida.
The cigars will be released exclusively in the USA, with Davidoff producing 2,500 boxes of 10 cigars for 2018. Florida Selection 2018 Limited Edition will be sold at select Davidoff Appointed Merchants and Flagship Stores beginning today.
Jeff Borysiewicz’s Florida-grown tobacco has been gaining in popularity over the past few years, as the tobacco has been featured in blends by Drew Estate (FSG), Davidoff, and Aganorsa Leaf. While many of these blends were initially only offered through Borysiewicz’s Corona Cigar Company, Davidoff and Drew Estate have now followed up with cigars that are sold nationally.
