In a press release sent out this morning, Fred Rewey, owner and founder of Nomad Cigar Company, announced that he has sold his company to Chris Kelly and Kyle Hoover, co-owners of Ezra Zion Cigar Co.
Nomad Cigar Co. was founded in 2012, beginning with only one cigar blend in one size. The company has since expanded to include 16 cigar blends and a total of 46 SKUs, which are manufactured at multiple factories throughout the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua (Fabrica Oveja Negra, Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua, Tabacalera L&V).
Fred cited his reason for selling the company as the growing necessity to “[wear] unlimited hats,” leaving less and less time for consumer interactions and cigar blending.
Both Nomad Cigar Co. and Ezra Zion were once distributed under Emilio Cigars (now Boutiques Unified), allowing for a familiar transition into a company that understands the culture Fred worked to cultivate at Nomad.
As for me, my commitment and dedication to the cigar industry has not changed. I plan on remaining in some capacity that not only fits my skill set but also my passion to smoke cigars.Fred Rewey, founder of Nomad Cigar Co.
