Crowned Heads announced today that they will be partnering with Drew Estate for “Buckeye Land,” a special project that will be sold exclusively through the state of Ohio.
Crowned Heads is no stranger to the concept of regional releases, with past projects such as Paniolo Especiale (Hawaii), Tennessee Waltz (Tennessee), Yellow Rose (Texas), and The Mason Dixon Project (North and South), though it has been three years since the company has introduced such a release. Perhaps most intriguing is the manufacturing partner, as Crowned Heads has historically worked with two factories: Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. in the DR, and My Father Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua. Likewise, Drew Estate has not, historically, been known to produce cigars for third parties, at least until recent years (with releases such as Caldwell’s All Out Kings and Ventura Cigar Co.’s Archetype Chapter 2 cigars).
The Ohio-exclusive cigars will be manufactured at Drew Estate’s La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate factory in Estelí, using a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and fillers of Nicaragua and Pennsylvania Broadleaf. The cigar is named for a combination of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Jon Huber’s (co-founder of Crowned Heads) wive’s maiden name, “Land.”
Buckeye Land is slated to begin shipping to retailers in late October, with cigars priced at $9.60 MSRP per cigar.
