2017 marks the 85th annual convention for the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association (IPCPR), held on July 10 – 14. For those unaware, this is the event for any and all things tobacco related each year. IPCPR is not a consumer event, but rather a setting exclusively for business transactions between manufacturers and retailers. For tobacconist retailers, the event comes loaded with informative seminars and manufacturer-sponsored parties, as well as deep discounts that encourage store owners to strategize the bulk of their yearly budgets around this one event.
But for the majority of cigar enthusiasts, IPCPR means one thing: NEW CIGARS. Because retailers and manufacturers from across the Americas have been conveniently stacked into the largest smoking-friendly convention center available, with retailers begging for a place to deposit their cash, manufacturers hold out for this event to unveil their latest and greatest. It’s at the IPCPR each year that the majority of new cigars are displayed for the year to come. Some products ship immediately at the show, others hold off for months, with a good portion of the products being spread out throughout the next year.
This year, as with 3 of the last 4, IPCPR will be held in Las Vegas, NV. And differing from the Vegas events in years past, IPCPR 2017 moves venues from its usual location in the Sands Expo (as part of The Venetian casino), to the Las Vegas Convention Center; which is located just off the Las Vegas Strip.
