Protocol cigar giveaway contest winners

Juan “the chosen juan” Cancel and Bill “Cuban-Assassin” Ives have long been prominent players in the cigar industry, hosting the hugely successful Port Authority Police Hispanic Society Cigar Night Out Charity Fundraiser each year, attracting the biggest names in the industry for a good cause. The two also quickly became big players on the Cigar Dojo app and were even inducted into the Dojo Hall of Fame in 2014.

But this dynamic duo had bigger goals in mind. In early 2015, Juan and Bill announced their official entrance into the cigar industry, forming Cubariqueño Cigar Co. And while that may sound like quite the mouthful initially, the name stems from Bill’s Cuban heritage and Juan’s Puerto Rican ancestry—ergo, Cubariqueño (Cuba-Ri-Ken-Yo). Their first release followed shortly thereafter, unleashing the Protocol, which receives its inspiration from Juan and Bill’s background in law enforcement. The cigars are made at the La Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and are currently crafted in small batches, with the first of such being sold out… with a hopeful return to hungry customers in the near future!

This week’s contest theme is: Cigar Pairings

If you are familiar with Juan and Bill, you’ll know they make a great pair! (Although you may find them debating which of the 2 is fatter, which seems to be a continuously evolving battle…). To commemorate these Dojo legends, we’d like to see your pairings this week on the Dojo app!

An example of a contest entry may be:

  • Pair your cigar with a tasty beverage
  • Pair your cigar with your favorite movie
  • Pair your cigar with… another cigar
Use #nicePair with entries

Entering the contest is as simple as:

  1. Take a photo of your creative cigar pairing
  2. Post your photo to the Cigar Dojo app
  3. Include hashtag #nicePair

Note: Contest entries should be new, i.e. created for this contest.

10-Count Bundle of Protocol Cigars

There will be TWO 1st place winners this week, both will receive a 10-count bundle of Protocol cigars. These beefy habanos consist of an Ecuadoran Habano Oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and fillers of Nicaraguan ligero leaves. Because of the heavy use of ligero, it is a full-bodied, intense blend that manages to soften into a smooth and creamy smoke as the cigar develops.
