Selected Tobacco is gathering its portfolio into a single collector’s box. The Selected Tobacco Petit Edition is a five-cigar set from Nelson Alfonso that pairs three established brands with two previously unreleased vitolas, and it begins shipping to United Cigars retail partners in mid-November.
Five Cigars, Five Brands
The set includes the Atabey Idolos (4 x 55), Byron Petit Poemas (4 x 50) and Alfonso Añejo No. 1 (4 x 50). Rounding it out are two sizes making their debut in this collection: the Bandolero Premium Intrépidos (4 x 50) and the Nelson Nobles (4 x 40). Each cigar is housed in its own cosmetic-grade aluminum tube.
Every cigar in the set has gone through Selected Tobacco’s proprietary post-roll aging process, with a minimum of four years of aging. Certain lines receive a minimum of five years, depending on the requirements of each blend. According to the release, Alfonso views aging as an essential part of the work itself, with the final character of a cigar developing long after it leaves the rolling table.
The Presentation
The Petit Edition comes in a box with a deep-wine finish, which the company likens to a fine glass of Spanish Rioja. The exterior features a pin line decorative pattern and the Alfonso Guardian Angel coin, which Selected Tobacco describes as the symbolic heart of the company. A magnetic tab secures the lid.
The set carries a suggested retail value of $164 and will be distributed in the United States by United Cigar Group.
