More than a decade after its original release, Caldwell Cigar Co.’s Eastern Standard Silk Road Lancero is making a return.
Originally introduced in 2015, Silk Road was the first cigar from Caldwell to carry a limited-production designation. The cigar is now being brought back exclusively through Smokingpipes, with production limited to 240 boxes.
Silk Road uses the same blend as Caldwell’s Eastern Standard line, rolled in a 7¼” x 40 lancero format. The blend incorporates Dominican Criollo ’98 and Corojo Ligero tobaccos along with Nicaraguan Habano leaf.
The lancero format was intended to offer a different expression of the Eastern Standard blend, with the thinner ring gauge altering the ratio of wrapper to filler tobacco. Robert Caldwell has continued to speak highly of the original release, calling Silk Road “one of the best sticks we have ever made.”
When Silk Road debuted in 2015, the cigar was packaged in 10-count boxes and produced in limited quantities. The returning version maintains the same size, blend, and 10-count packaging as the original.
Production of the 2026 Caldwell Eastern Standard Silk Road Lancero is limited to 240 boxes of 10 cigars, totaling 2,400 cigars. The release is exclusive to Smokingpipes.com.
