Plasencia Cigars has announced the appointment of Rodrigo Medina Mendieta as the company’s first Global Brand Ambassador, a newly created position following nearly 11 years with the brand.
According to the company, Medina Mendieta has been involved in expanding Plasencia’s presence in international markets, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In the new role, he will represent the brand globally while working with retailers, distributors, media, and consumers.
A native of Nicaragua, Medina Mendieta said the position carries personal significance because of his connection to both the country and its tobacco industry.
“What first attracted me to Plasencia was the opportunity to connect my professional career with a product from my country that I deeply believe in,” said Rodrigo. “For years, I asked myself whether a luxury product could come from Nicaragua and stand alongside the world’s most respected brands. Through Plasencia, I have seen that answer become a reality. It is an immense honor to represent a brand that reflects the heritage, craftsmanship, and spirit of the country I love.”
The appointment marks the first time Plasencia has created a dedicated Global Brand Ambassador position. The company says the role is intended to support its growing presence in international markets while helping communicate the history of the Plasencia family and its tobacco operations.
