Powstanie Cigars has announced the release of a new vitola within its Mexican San Andrés line: the Corona Gorda. Retailers can now place orders, with shipments expected to begin shortly.
The Corona Gorda features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Indonesian binder, with filler tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The format is designed to emphasize the wrapper leaf, a common approach for showcasing the characteristics of San Andrés tobacco.
According to the company, the blend highlights flavors commonly associated with the wrapper, including dark cocoa, espresso, roasted earth, and light spice. The Corona Gorda size places additional focus on wrapper influence while maintaining a traditional construction profile.
“This vitola really lets the San Andrés wrapper speak,” said Mike Szczepankiewicz, one of the brothers behind the Powstanie brand. “The Corona Gorda brings forward the richness and texture of the blend while remaining refined and approachable.”
Initial production is limited, with a set number of boxes allocated for the release.
