United Cigar and J.C. Newman Cigar Co. have announced the upcoming release of the El Baton Cameroon Firecracker, set to arrive at Firecracker retailers by the end of August. This marks the first time J.C. Newman has produced a Firecracker, timed to honor the 60th anniversary of Stanford J. Newmanโs introduction of Cameroon tobacco to the premium cigar industry.
The limited-edition cigar measures 3.5โ x 50 and features the Firecrackerโs trademark fuse cap, a design first introduced in 2007. Rolled at the J.C. Newman PENSA factory in Estelรญ, Nicaragua, the blend uses Nicaraguan filler tobacco to complement the celebrated Cameroon wrapper. Flavor notes include sweet spice, cocoa, cedar, black pepper, and dried herbs.
Cameroon tobacco, grown in both Cameroon and the Central African Republic, is prized for its delicate leaves and distinct profile. It has been a key component in lines from brands such as Arturo Fuente, Partagas, H. Upmann, and La Flor Dominicana.
โThis special release commemorates the visionary legacy of Stanford J. Newman, a second-generation cigar maker who, in 1965, pioneered the use of Cameroon tobacco in premium cigars,โ the announcement stated.
The El Baton Cameroon Firecracker will be packaged in boxes of 20 cigars with a suggested retail price of $9 per cigar. Quantities are limited.
