A cigar originally crafted as a diplomatic gift for world leaders, Joya de Nicaragua’s Número Uno first reached U.S. smokers as an event-exclusive release in 2018. Since then, it has gained attention among cigar enthusiasts and earned recognition from industry publications. It was named Halfwheel’s Top Cigar of 2018, Cigar Dojo’s Best Cigar of 2019, and secured the No. 6 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2020 with a 95-point rating.

The cigar features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper paired with Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, offering a mellow-to-medium-bodied smoke with creamy and complex flavors. Previously available in the U.S. in 25-count boxes as “L’Ambassadeur” and “Le Premier,” Número Uno has also been presented internationally in a 13-count box format. Now, Joya de Nicaragua is introducing this 13-count box to U.S. retailers, aligning the American market with the packaging seen abroad.

The two available formats remain unchanged: Número Uno “L’Ambassadeur” measures 6 5/8 x 44, priced at $253.50 per box or $19.50 per cigar, while “Le Premier” is 6 7/8 x 48, priced at $266.50 per box or $20.50 per cigar. The new 13-count box will debut in the U.S. at the PCA 2025 Convention & Trade Show in New Orleans this April, with orders accepted at the Drew Estate booth #3241. Shipping to U.S. retailers is expected to begin in April 2025.
