Caldwell Cigar Co. has announced an ultra-limited, micro-batch project with AZ-based Arizona Wilderness Brewing, with a select number of cigars being made to pair with a special beer of the same name.
The project is dubbed “Curado,” which has the unique origins of being made during an episode of “Into the Wilderness,” a docu-series airing on Amazon Prime. Into the Wilderness is a series of documentaries, where the Arizona brewers travel to unique regions of the world and create beers from each area’s local ingredients. One such episode features the brewers traveling to the DR with Caldwell Cigar Co., visiting the William Ventura factory to craft the Curado cigar to be paired with the eventual beer of the same name.
According to a press release from Caldwell Cigar Co., the cigars will only be available at a special viewing party event on Saturday, March 23rd, held at Puro Cigar Bar in Chandler, AZ. The event is open to the public, with both the Curado beer (on tap and in cans) and Curado cigars being sold.
While the cigar release and viewing party won’t begin until 6pm local time, Arizona Wilderness will be holding a separate event earlier in the day, located at the brewery’s Wood Barreling house. This event will take place from 1–5pm local time, where the first 25 customers will receive a free Curado cigar from Caldwell Cigar Co.
The Curado beer is a barleywine-style ale that has been aged in spent rum casks and mama juana-style spices added. The cigars feature an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan binder and filler leaves. The cigars have been rolled in a singular 5″ x 50 format and will be sold in five-packs at the one-night-only event.
